About us

Acuity Medical, Inc is a privately held medical sales and marketing organization based in Annapolis, Maryland.The organization offers three core modules to their healthcare partners comprised of Independent Sales Representation, Specialty Distribution, and Business Development Consulting.

Acuity has several experienced sales professionals who effectively cover Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Delaware. The Acuity Medical business model allows for small “micro” territories that provide high sales call frequency for their contracted manufacturer partners. In addition, the organization offers a quality and comprehensive infrastructure to support business development throughout the healthcare continuum. 

The company was founded in 1987 and rapidly developed a reputation of high sales achievement. The sales team has won numerous sales performance awards over the years, and is considered the leading medical sales and marketing group in the region. Acuity Medical, Inc is a member of IMDA, HIRA, and MANA. The company currently operates out of a 4,000 square foot office / warehouse in Annapolis.  

 In 2003, the assets of the company were purchased by Mark Tomchik, a medical device Sales and Marketing executive.

 THE TEAM: 

Mark Tomchik / President
Prior to purchasing Acuity Medical, Inc he was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Vapotherm, Inc, a medical respiratory device manufacturer. His employment term spanned the start-up phase where he developed and executed their original sales and marketing plan to the successful launch of the Vapotherm 2000i system. After three years with the firm and helping Vapotherm successfully secure funding via the venture capital channel, he resigned and purchased Acuity Medical. His background also includes five years of senior level sales and marketing management positions with the Optiva Corporation, makers of the sonicare® sonic toothbrush, which is now part of Philips Healthcare. The Optiva Corporation was INC Magazines #1 Fastest Growing Privately Held Company in America during his employment. He also spent five years and held key sales management positions with Thermoscan, Inc, makers of the instant ear thermometer and now a Gillette / Braun company. While at Thermoscan he helped manage and develop their distribution, drug wholesale, independent pharmacy, and hospital channel strategies. His employment with both firms spanned start-up to acquisition. He has published numerous articles on selling strategies, and has supported the successful launch of five prior companies. He graduated from Towson University in 1984 and currently resides in the Annapolis area with his wife Susan and children Brent, Courtney, and Christopher.  

Dan Jackson / Eastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey
Dan joined Acuity Medical in 2004. Prior to joining Acuity Medical, Inc, Dan was the Sales Manager for specialty medical distributor Metropolitan Medical. He developed his sales skills with Xerox, Kendall, Chesapeake Breathing / 3Ci, and Owens and Minor. Dan is a true sales professional whose specialty is developing mutually beneficial long term relationships with his customers. He is a great listener and detailed planner with a strong track record of high sales achievement. He graduated from Howard University and currently lives in Philadelphia with his wife Deborah. He has four grown children. 

Jim Carr / Virginia
Jim Carr joined Acuity Medical, Inc in 2005 and is a skilled medical sales professional. Jim has worked as a healthcare sales representative and region manager since 1993. He graduated from Georgia Tech and resides in Richmond, VA with his wife and two children.  

David Pucillo / Washington , DC, Northern Virginia, and Western Maryland

David joined Acuity Medical in September 2010 after spending more than 10 years as a VP of Sales and Marketing for Flotec Inc. Prior to Flotec, he worked for several years as an Independent Sales Representative for medical device firms that marketed emergency medicine, critcal care, anesthesia, respiratory theray, and neonatal intensive care prodcuts. David currently resides in Largo, Maryland.   

Dave Smith / Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia
Dave joined the company in 2005, and is a very focused and organized sales professional who has more than fifteen years of medical sales experience. He knows our market well, and how to mange both our direct and distribution business in growing his territory. Dave currently resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.      

Dean Goldsmith / New Jersey and New York City Metro

Dean has several years of high achievement in medical device sales. He has owned his own independent representative agency, and also been involved at a senior level within the healthcare sales market. Dean has sold both direct and thru distribution, and has many contacts within the NJ and NYC Metro market. He currently resides in Asbury park, NJ with his wife. 

Joe Heiser / Operations Manager
Joe joined Acuity Medical, Inc in 2007 after a successful eighteen year career as Senior Vice President of Operations for a regional retail healthcare organization. Joe is responsible for customer service, purchasing, accounting, logistics, inventory control, and operations management of Acuity Medical, Inc
