Acuity Medical is a privately held medical sales and marketing organization based in Annapolis, Maryland, that offers three core business development competencies to medical product manufacturers. Acuity may be contracted as a Regional Independent Sales Agency, National or Regional Specialty Distributor, or National Product Channel Consultant.
Acuity Medical has several experienced sales professionals covering Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and Delaware. The Acuity Medical business model offers market and channel specific “micro” territories that were developed to provide high sales call frequency throughout the healthcare continuum for their contract manufacturers.
The company was founded in 1987 and rapidly developed a reputation of high sales achievement. The sales team has won numerous sales performance awards over the years, and is considered one of the leading medical sales and marketing groups in the country. Acuity Medical, Inc is a member of IMDA, HIRA, and MANA, as well as many other clinical and industry associations. The company operates out of a 4,200 square foot space in Annapolis. In 2003, the assets of the company were purchased by Mark Tomchik, a medical device Sales and Marketing executive.
Mark Tomchik / President
Prior to purchasing Acuity Medical, Inc he was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Vapotherm, Inc, a medical respiratory device manufacturer. His employment term included an equity position and spanned the start-up phase where he developed and executed their original sales and marketing plan leading to the successful launch of the award winning Vapotherm 2000i system. The technology is currently used in thousands of hospitals every day and standard of care in high flow therapy. After three years with the firm and helping Vapotherm successfully secure funding via the venture capital channel, he resigned and purchased Acuity Medical. His background also includes an equity position and five years of senior level sales and marketing management positions with the Optiva Corporation, makers of the sonicare® toothbrush, which is now part of Philips Healthcare. The Optiva Corporation was INC Magazines #1 Fastest Growing Privately Held Company in America during his employment. He also spent five years in an equity position and held key sales management positions with Thermoscan, Inc, makers of the instant ear thermometer and now a Gillette / Braun company. While at Thermoscan he helped manage and develop their distribution, drug wholesale, independent pharmacy, and hospital channel strategies. His employment with both firms spanned start-up to acquisition. He has published numerous articles on selling strategies. Mr Tomchik currently sits on four boards and is active in supporting the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and other community charities. He graduated from Towson University in 1984 and currently resides in the Annapolis area.
Dan Jackson (In Memory)
Dan Jackson passed away in June 2015 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Not a day goes by that the Acuity Medical sales team does not think of Dan, and what he accomplished in his personal and professional life. He is greatly missed. Dan joined Acuity Medical in 2004. Prior to joining Acuity Medical, Inc, Dan was the Sales Manager for specialty medical distributor Metropolitan Medical. He developed his sales skills with Xerox, Kendall, Chesapeake Breathing / 3Ci, and Owens and Minor. Dan is a true sales professional whose specialty is developing mutually beneficial long term relationships with his customers. He has won numerous awards while employed at Acuity Medical, Inc and has an impressive record of high sales achievement. He graduated from Howard University and currently lives in Philadelphia with his wife Deborah. He has four grown children.
Jim Carr / Virginia
Jim Carr joined Acuity Medical, Inc in 2005 and is a skilled medical sales professional who focuses primarily on the home medical equipment segment in Virginia. Jim has worked as a healthcare sales representative and regional manager since 1993,and has a thorough understanding and documented track record of developing revenue within the DME market. He graduated from Georgia Tech and resides in Richmond, VA.
Peter Koch / Washington , DC, Northern Virginia, and Western Maryland
Peter joined Acuity Medical in March 2012 after spending more than 20 years in medical sales with Cardinal Health, Invacare, and Convatec. His experience provides him with a strong foundation in capital equipment and disposable sales. Peter graduated from St Mary's College of Maryland and resides in Pasadena, Maryland with his wife and son.
Greg Boytim / Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Upstate NY
Greg joined Acuity Medical in 2012, and has more than twenty years of medical sales experience as an Independent rep based in Western Pennsylvania. He has numerous contacts at UPMC, WVU, West Penn Allegheny, Charleston Area Medical Center, and other health systems in his region. Greg has demonstrated an ability to be a consistent high sales achiever. He is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Business Administration and currently resides outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Dean Goldsmith / New Jersey and New York City Metro
Dean has more than fifteen years experience of high achievement within the medical device marketplace. He has owned his own independent representative agency, and worked with some of the most visible brands in the industry such a GE, Philips, and more. Dean has many contacts within the New Jersey and NYC Metro market, which he effectively leverages in growing his territory. He currently resides in Asbury Park, New Jersey with his wife.
Kevin Egan / Virginia
Kevin joined Acuity Medical in 2012 and brings a wealth of medical sales and management experience to the Acuity team. Prior to joining Acuity Medical, Inc, he was as a principal of Egan Sales Associates for more than fifteen years where he developed a reputation of high sales achievement. Kevin graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree in Marketing Communications. He resides in Mechanicsville, Virginia with his wife Dana and three children.
Mary Anne Anthony / General Manager
Maryanne joined Acuity Medical, Inc in 2005. She is responsible for customer service, purchasing, accounting, logistics, inventory control, and overall operations management. Maryanne is a graduate of the College of Notre Dame.
Ben Carroll / Eastern PA and Southern NJ
Ben joined Acuity Medical in 2012 as an Inside Sales Representative and quickly earned a promotion to managing Central PA as a Field Sales Rep. In July 2015, Ben replaced Dan Jackson as the Eastern PA and Southern NJ sales rep. He is know for his enthusiasm and hard charging style of working hard on behalf of his customers. Ben is very connected with IDN's in his area such as Main Line Health, HUP, Wellspan, Hershey Medical Center, Geisinger Health System, Atlanticare, and many others. Prior to Acuity, Ben was a high sale achiever in the physical rehab equipment space. He attended Salisbury University and resides in Monkton, Maryland.
Steve Schneider / Program and Business Development Manager
Steve joined Acuity Medical in 2105 as a Program and Business Development Manager. Prior to Acuity, Steve held sales and sales management positions with Bard, Thermoscan, Smith & Nephew and McKesson. He resides in Roslyn, NY with his wife Liz and children Allie and Kyle.
Tom works with Acuity Medical Inc in managing their durable medical equipment sales and distribution efforts in Western PA and WV. He has more than ten years of award winning DME sales experience with Next Day Medical and McKesson. Tom graduated from Clarion University in 1998 with Marketing degree. He is considered an expert in DME sales, merchandising, and retail marketing. Tom resides in Irwin, PA with his wife and two children.
Craig Tasens / Virginia
Craig works with Acuity Medical in their DME and Home Care Division managing select Virginia accounts. He joined the team in 2015 and resides in Woodbridge, VA.
Courtney Tomchik / Sales and Marketing Support Coordinator
Courtney joined Acuity Medical in 2013 as a college intern and was offered a full time position upon graduation. She is responsible for Inbound Marketing initiatives, developing marketing content and collateral, e-marketing, social media, trade shows, and direct mail programs. She is a 2014 graduate of the Univ of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business with a focus in Marketing, and played Division I varsity lacrosse at Penn. Courtney has also attended professional sales and marketing development programs conducted by Wharton and the Harvard University School of Business. She resides in Arnold, Maryland.
Steven Herr / Marketing Relations Manager
Steven Joined Acuity in 2014 and is responsible for supporting logistics, order entry, accounts receivable, and other marketing and administrative duties. Steven worked as a Marketing Intern for a large health system and understands the business development process throughout the continuum. He graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Business on an academic scholarship, and resides in the Annapolis, Maryland area.
